discovery and creation...
Preparation
ritual
As discussed during our pre-Retreat Sister Circle, ritual will be a centerpiece of the Inventio Retreat experience, and you are encouraged to explore the following process in preparation:
Starting now and leading up to the Retreat, please set aside some time and space to begin an inquiry with your Inner Wisdom / Higher Self / Deeper Knowing:
How is ritual calling to me during this season of my life?
What would like to be explored, expanded, acknowledged, released, invited, transmuted, integrated, honored, created, or re-born within me (my life / my spirit) through ritual?
What would be the most most uplifting, elevating, magical way to ritualize myself or my life that I can possibly dream of?
Are there any other directions I feel called to explore at this time in my life and/or in relationship to Inventio, the Retreat, and/or ritual?
Instead of trying to "find" or "come up with" something, simply offer up your inquiry and listen for what drops in, periodically circling back into the inquiry space with fresh curiosity.
Make sure to take note of any ideas, sensations, images, sounds, colors, or dimensions that arise.
We will continue to listen and develop your ritual throughout the retreat, culminating in your own unique, sacred, magical, ritual.
Totems & Talismans: You are encouraged to bring any items that resonate, reflect, or represent the energy of your ritual - and/or any items that intuitively call to you even if you don't know what your ritual focus will be yet.
storytelling
The tapestry of our Inventio experience will be woven with threads of storytelling, listening, enchantment, expanded consciousness, expression, presence, creativity, co-creation, invention, and explorations of the Imaginal.
To set the stage (literally and metaphorically) for the energy and frequency of our Inventio environment, I am assigning one of my all-time *favorite* short stories, The Master of Harmlessness, by Ingo Swann (one of my heroes and the namesake of my cat "Ingo") for required listening prior to the Retreat.
This story is a beautiful, supernatural, whimsical adventure of surprising depth and wonder, and will be integral to our Retreat experience as we reference this story throughout various activities and discussions.
Please listen to this story when you can really tune in like you would around a campfire - in fact, the flight or train ride to Rhinebeck are perfect opportunities to sit back and listen to this tale - and it will still be fresh in mind when you arrive - although, it's so sweet you might just want to listen more than once;)
Note: although the intro and prologue might seem abstract at first, please track along without feeling like you need to "get" what's going on... it will all start to make sense as the journey unfolds.
Note: the audio format has been chosen intentionally (vs reading).
Childhood Photos
Please bring 3 or more photos of yourself as a child (or in your younger years) - if possible, choose photos that particularly evoke connection, "feels", tenderness, meaning, love, and/or care. These may represent moments, ears, experiences, and/or an embodied being-ness that you would like to reconnect with and/or revisit in some way.
If you do not have physical copies of your photos, you can print them from you phone when you arrive.
